Organic Cotton Fabrics

Organic cotton is not only soft and comfortable to wear but also good for the environment. It is grown without chemicals and without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides or defoliants. By reducing the amount of chemicals placed into the earth, we are decreasing pollution in the air, water, and preventing the mixture of chemicals into soil, which in turn effects future vegetation and animal and mankind life. Fertilizers that are used include compost, manure, naturally derived mineral and plant fertilizers and crop rotation. Insect controls involve the use of beneficial insects and natural pesticides certified for organic crops. Organic cotton feels softer, smells cleaner, and is less likely to trigger allergies. The sustainable farming practices used to grow organic cotton do not pollute groundwater, surface water, soil, or air. In fact, soil quality is actually improved by the production of organic cotton.
